Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 7, 2026

mildlyuseful.app ("we", "us") is a collection of free, browser-based tools operated from the United States. This policy explains what information is involved when you use the site, where it lives, and the choices you have. The short version: we don't ask for accounts, we don't collect personal information, and the things you create with our tools stay on your own device.

What we don't collect

  • No accounts, sign-ups, names, email addresses, or payment details.
  • No uploads: tools that work with images or files (like the color palette generator, pixel art converter, halftone converter, and paint by number) process everything inside your browser. Your files are never sent to our servers or anyone else's.
  • No content you type or create — flashcards, kanban boards, tracked expiration dates, sankey diagrams, word counts, and so on — ever leaves your device.
  • No marketing or advertising cookies, and no cross-site tracking.

Information stored on your device

The site saves some data in your own browser (using cookies and local storage) so things work and your preferences stick:

  • Favorites — a cookie remembering which tools you marked as favorites (kept for about one year).
  • Preferences — your theme choice (light/dark/auto) and your cookie consent choice.
  • Tool data — content you create in tools that offer saving, such as flashcards, kanban boards, sankey diagrams, and expiration tracker items.

This data stays in your browser. We can't see it, and it isn't transmitted anywhere. You can remove it at any time by clearing your browser's cookies and site data, which also means it's gone for good — we have no copy to restore.

Analytics

We use Vercel Analytics and Vercel Speed Insightsto understand roughly how many people visit, which pages they view, and how fast pages load. These services are cookieless: they don't set cookies, don't create profiles of you, and don't track you across other websites. Data is anonymized and aggregated — for example, your IP address is used transiently to derive a rough location and discarded rather than stored. You can read more in Vercel's privacy documentation.

We may in the future add cookie-based analytics such as Google Analytics. If we do, it will only run if you've opted in through the analytics toggle in Cookie Settings — it is off by default, and you can change your choice at any time from the menu (☰ → Cookie Settings).

Browser notifications

The Expiration Tracker can optionally remind you before items expire using your browser's notification feature. Notifications only happen if you grant permission through your browser, are generated locally on your device, and can be turned off in the tool or in your browser settings at any time.

Links to other sites

The site links to third-party services such as Patreon, Instagram, and LinkedIn. If you follow those links, the privacy practices of those services apply — we encourage you to review their policies.

Children's privacy

The site doesn't knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13. Since there are no accounts and no data collection beyond the anonymous analytics described above, there is no personal information for us to hold about any visitor of any age.

Do Not Track

We don't track visitors across websites, so we treat every visitor the same way regardless of whether their browser sends a "Do Not Track" signal.

Your choices

  • Manage optional analytics through Cookie Settings in the site menu.
  • Delete everything the site stores by clearing your browser's cookies and site data.
  • Control notification permissions through your browser settings.

Changes to this policy

If we change how the site handles data — for example, by adding Google Analytics — we'll update this page and its effective date before the change takes effect.
